International Seminar on Cultural Policies

At a time when our country demands equitable and comprehensive development for all, the Cultural Policies Observatory together with the Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center organize this year the V International Seminar on Cultural Policies. Now is the time! #RightToCulture.

In Chile, important processes are underway, such as the Educational Reform and the construction of a New Constitution. In this context, the seminar seeks to promote the role of culture in these changes and reflect on how cultural rights are translated, concretized and guaranteed in our country.

Some of the topics that will be addressed in this fifth version of the seminar will be: the right to Culture in the Constitution, participation in cultural life, the right to Culture in Education, in Cultural Identity, and also the role of new technologies in the right to access and cultural contribution.

In addition to prominent national guests, the meeting will feature the presence of important international guests: Eduardo Nivón (Mexico), Doctor in Anthropology who will give a Master Talk on Cultural Rights today; Lionel Artaud (France), Sociologist with vast experience in research on cultural participation, Grace Quintanilla (Mexico), Director of the Center for Digital Culture and via videoconference Toby Miller (Great Britain), professor of Cultural Studies and author of more than 20 books on the subject.
