Colombian Ana María Salas made her film debut with Frente almirro (2009), a filmed diary of life with which she sought to understand herself at a crucial moment in her adolescence. Now he portrays his father, the prestigious artist Carlos Salas, during the creation of one of his works: an immense, heavy concrete circle that hangs in the middle of his workshop. But, deep down, the director seems to extend here the same self-analysis that mobilized her debut film.
In the workshop is a film about her, her artistic searches and her relationship with cinema in light of her father's creative processes. An open question about how a loved – and especially admired – family member can be filmed without the inevitable emotionality of the portrait overshadowing the reflections on the creative processes. A dialogue between father and daughter and, in some way, between two linked works that will testify to an indelible complicity.
