The academic was in charge of implementing the “Sexual Respect” initiative, which aims to promote a culture free of discrimination and harassment at Columbia University, in the United States.
During this meeting, the Columbia University Law School professor will refer to Columbia's policies and protocols to raise awareness, prevent and address situations of sexual assault and harassment as well as offenses associated with gender, sexual orientation, beliefs and origin of people.
It will also explain the education and training programs aimed at students and academics; the support and accompaniment services and resources available for victims; the mechanisms the university uses to investigate these transgressions with confidentiality, impartiality and effectiveness; and sanctions and protocols to prevent recurrence. In addition, it will address issues related to consent (When “No” Means “No”), violence in dating, and stalking.
Suzanne Goldberg is founder and director of the Legal Clinic for Sexuality and Gender Issues and co-director of the Center for Gender & Sexuality at Columbia University Law School. She is also co-chair of a project by the American Law Institute to address these issues at the national level in the United States.
