The school jumper, emblem of the female presence in Chilean education, is the theme of the Malvestidas + Pía Montalva Collective (Thinking Fashion) project that will be presented at GAM soon. This call aims to share images of the use of this garment in people's lives.
The exhibition will investigate the origins of the jumper and its installation as an official uniform, to link it to the political, social, economic and cultural conditions that guarantee its high visibility in a period and its almost extinction today. The exhibition will also explore the different structures of the piece, with the aim of signifying class logic, gender roles and disciplining of the body. It will highlight its support status, both for the student demands of recent years and for diverse artistic experiences.
The invitation is to participate in this call by completing a form and attaching high-resolution photographs where you appear wearing a jumper.
