The text"This building is a dream." Voices Inside. Fragmented Memory of the UNCTAD III building/ Gabriela Mistral Metropolitan Cultural Centercollects memories, testimonies and authors from various disciplines that dialogue with the building proposal.
Voices Inside. Memory of the UNCTADIII building/Metropolitan Cultural Center Gabriela Mistral, rescues from the memories of people who, as citizens, inhabited this space or were workers at this center, about the traces that participating in this space left in their lives at that historical moment of our country, in the context of the Popular Unity government. This exploration into collective memory presents their memories, generating a sound archive (sound piece composed from the voices of 20 interviewees for this project) that, as a collage, generate a chorus of diverse and significant memories, which were heard through a sound installation that was exhibited in the Central Patio of the Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center -GAM between September and October 2016.
This sound installation was an invitation for anyone to listen and experience through a sound system composed of sound transducers to the bone, thus allowing listening within, a metaphor for the need that collective and emotional memory requires: that memories can be felt inside people and link us to a dimension that allows us to get closer to what this choir wants to tell us about a significant experience from our shared past.
