An intimate, visual and testimonial journey through more than four decades of Pulp's history comes to GAM, through Sexto Piso and USACH, with the launch of I am with Pulp, ¿y tú?, a book created by Mark Webber, the band's guitarist and privileged witness of its rise from the margins to becoming a global musical and cultural phenomenon.
Constructed from memories, photographs, objects and personal archives collected by Webber, the book functions as a written and visual diary that reveals the history of one of the most influential groups of its generation from a close and deeply personal perspective.
Webber's relationship with Pulp began in 1995, when he was still a teenager and the band knew many of its fans personally. Over time he went from accompanying tours and leading the fan club to becoming a tour manager and later an official member of the group. This unique experience allowed him to document from within the artistic and human evolution of the band led by Jarvis Cocker.
More than a musical biography, I'm with Pulp, and you? is an exploration of memory, pop culture and the emotional bond that music builds with different generations around the world.
About the author:
Mark Webber was born in Chesterfield, northern England, in 1970. He grew up listening to chart music until he discovered David Bowie and The Velvet Underground, and became fascinated with Andy Warhol and the counterculture. After announcing to a career counselor that he would be a pop star (somewhat jokingly), Mark began publishing fanzines and organizing concerts from the age of 15. He has been a member of Pulp since 1995. Outside of music, Mark has dedicated much of his time to curating avant-garde films and has published several books on the subject. He lives with his family in London.
