To commemorate International Book Day, a new massive book release will be held at GAM on April 23, where there will be more than 1,200 titles to share.
From 3 to 9 p.m., The Free Library arrives at our central plaza with more than 2,000 books so you can exchange yours. Those who attend will be able to find novels, universal classics, poetry, children's books, comics and an endless number of literary titles to share for free through a very simple mechanism: for each book that a person contributes, they can take 2 titles (with a limit of 5 texts per person). No prior registration is necessary.
The jazz collective Jazzantiago will accompany the event during the day, from 4 to 4:45 p.m., and the storytellers from the Merequetengue Company, who will surprise adults and children with their magical stories, from 6 to 7 p.m.
In addition, Ediciones B and I like to read Chile will have various surprises during the day and will give away hundreds of books to enthusiasts who join this great celebration.
The celebration of Book Day also has its solidarity side. In a joint initiative with La Biblioteca Libre and GAM, 2 mailboxes have been set up to invite all people to donate their books to the Libro Amigo organization, which is responsible for promoting the love of reading by lending books for free to patients, family members and officials of the Félix Bulnes Hospital in Providencia. All types of books in good condition for children, young people and adults are received (except school texts).
