Part of the programming of this event will include the 34 films selected to participate in the last stage of the now traditional international competition “The City is…”, which includes short and feature films whose central theme is the city, the urban environment and the architecture of buildings or cities, in the documentary, fiction, experimental and architectural registration categories. The festival will also award a special mention to the “best Chilean short film” and “best Chilean feature film.”

The selected films focus on topics such as the registration of the architecture of buildings (Innovation Center, Liceo Municipal) and cities (Lisbon, Rio de Janeiro) or on processes of urban change, in some cases experimental (Crimée enchanted, Promenade) and, in others, generating a crossover with the art installation (Luna). New and old themes also appear, such as sustainability (Iris), migration (Full Dream), heritage (Matta Viel), home (Casa Antúnez), and community (The Disappearance of Robin Hood).

The winners will be announced on the closing night of the fourth version of the festival and their works will be exhibited at other film and architecture festivals held in various places around the world. The jury will be composed of the architect and cultural manager Pola Mora (ArchDaily); the documentary filmmaker Tiziana Panizza (Visual Letters, 2005-2011; Tierra en Movimiento, 2014; and Tierra Sola, 2017); and the director of the magazine LaFuga.cl Carolina Urrutia (“A Centrifugal Cinema: Chilean Fictions 2005-2010”).
