This literary convention brings together science fiction fans every year in a series of activities such as awards ceremonies, guest panels, and launches.

The Chilean Science Fiction and Fantasy Literature Association (ALCiFF) presents the third version of ALFICCON, its emblematic annual meeting whose purpose is to continue constituting a tradition and an annual periodic meeting space for the expanded community of science fiction literature in its broad sense.

With virtual and in-person programming, the event has thematic panels, association awards, social gatherings and the presence of publishers. BiblioGAM opens its doors to ALCIFFCON III for three days that close the event.

At GAM there will be panels with international guests of honor and national highlights. Added to this is the delivery of the Altísimo awards and the official launch of the Alciffian book LATINOAMÉRICÆDITADA (volume 2).

International Guest Panel

"Neon, earth and resistance: speculations towards a possible future": Rebellions, crises and hope in Latin American science fiction

From the electric glow of the past to the climatic currents that mark our present, this panel explores how speculative narratives have evolved from the technological imaginaries of yesterday towards an eco-political consciousness.

With renowned international guests, we will reflect on how these stories challenge us to reimagine futures born of dissent and resistance, and how ALCIFFCON becomes a beacon of literary and community optimism.

Panel dedicated to the launch of a new anthology

"Expanded Latin America: New stories, new regions": Beyond South America in science fiction: A literary map under construction

After the success of the first volume, LATINOAMÉRICÆDITADA returns to explore the speculative voices of Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, territories where the imagination challenges editorial barriers. With an approach that unites history, diversity and literary creation, this anthology illuminates unknown landscapes of the genre.

In this panel, the editors and participants of the work invite us to discover how these narratives expand the horizons of the genre-tradition and reaffirm its potential as a cultural engine in our region.

Moderator: Carolina Varela

Panelists: Leonardo Espinoza Benavides, Soledad Véliz and Arturo Sierra.

Saturday December 21

Panel of national highlights and Altísimo Awards

"The weight of the legacy: The Altísimos awards in perspective": The relevance of rewarding speculative things to imagine a literary future

Since their creation, the Altísimo awards have become a meeting point to celebrate and debate the best of science fiction and fantasy literature published in Chile. Inspired by the founding novel by Hugo Correa, and with echoes of the prestigious Hugo award, these awards have begun to outline a unique literary canon in Latin America.

In this panel, prominent authors and experts will analyze the importance of these awards as builders of community and culture, and discuss their challenges and projections in an always changing and challenging literary landscape. In short: rewarding the past and present to imagine the literary future.

Moderator: Andrés Olave

Participating: Francisco Ortega, José Luis Flores and "Berna" Ojeda Labourdette.
