Adama, a 12-year-old boy, lives in a remote village in West Africa, protected by cliffs. Outside, beyond, lies “the land of respite,” the realm of evil, war-hungry spirits. When Samba, his older brother, suddenly disappears from the village, Adama decides to go in search of him. Accompanied by Abdou and Maximin, he crosses a Europe in the grip of war in 1914.
