Michael Stone, a middle-aged motivational speaker who is struggling with an existential crisis, attends to give a speech at a customer service convention in Cincinnati. Michael feels distant from everyone around him: he perceives them all as identical white men with identical faces and voices, including his children and wife. At the hotel he meets and falls in love with Lisa, a seemingly normal woman who makes him energize to re-examine his own life.
