In its third version, the initiative, led by CONICYT RM and GAM, seeks to deliver scientific knowledge through theater for 70 students from educational establishments in Maipú, La Pintana, Recoleta and Vitacura.
The drama of an apocalyptic Santiago that is overpopulated and hyper-polluted in the year 2050; the debate of a group of students trying to imitate a lizard's ability to walk on water; or the funny situations experienced by a group of young people who look for solutions in nature to end the problems of a community. These are just some of the themes that this year will shape the works of the III School Festival of Theater and Science, FETyC 2016.
This is a joint initiative between the Regional Associative Projects of the Explora CONICYT Program of the Metropolitan Region and the Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center, which seeks to disseminate the learning of science through languages typical of the performing arts in high school students of the Metropolitan Region.
The contest is held through an open call that invites schools from across the region to create a theatrical project with themes related to the Theme of the Year Explora. This 2016 the title is Biomimetics, with the challenge for participants to create a theatrical work that talks about this discipline, which seeks scientific solutions inspired by nature.
This year, 70 students from the Alicante School of Maipú, San José de la Familia School of La Pintana, Alejandro Flores School of Recoleta, O'Higgins Institute of Maipú, German School of Santiago and Cardenal José María Caro School of La Pintana participate.
The result of the process is six productions that will be presented on December 16 at GAM and will include comedy, science fiction and drama, in this exhibition that has aroused great interest from students.
