IV Regional Education Fair for Sustainable Development

Environmentally certified educational establishments, municipalities that are members of the municipal environmental certification system, NGOs, universities and companies that have implemented initiatives and experiences on environmental and sustainable issues, will be the exhibitors in this exhibition that promises to bring together more than a thousand visitors, mostly students, interested in replicating these experiences in their communities. In addition, various talks, workshops and live music are some of the options for that day.

The objective of this activity is to promote in educational communities the development of initiatives aimed at raising awareness of the importance, either personally or collectively, of caring for the environment, as well as promoting the exchange of knowledge and experiences between the different establishments and organizations participating in the fair.

Regarding this important event, the Seremi de Medio Ambiente of the Metropolitan Region, Jorge Canals, pointed out that "one of our management focuses is mainly on environmental education. Without a doubt, this fair is an excellent opportunity to learn, imitate and replicate in their territories different actions that help develop more sustainable and environmentally just communities."

Finally he added, "this fair is unique in the region, there is no other exhibition where educational communities present the different sustainable practices and experiences they carry out in their establishments. Therefore, we invite all students to visit this new version of the Regional Education Fair for Sustainable Development."

Likewise, Macarena Ocáriz, director of PAR Explora of CONICYT RM Sur Oriente, highlighted the importance that this type of meetings have on students. "This is our fourth year supporting the fair, since we believe that through these initiatives, respect for the natural environment and for themselves is encouraged in boys and girls. Next Tuesday, a unique opportunity will be presented where students will be the protagonists of the event, exposing their projects to everyone who visits the exhibition." 

During previous years, the fair has been visited by more than three thousand students and subsidized municipal and private establishments from all the communes of the Metropolitan Region have participated, with samples on the topics of recycling, vermiculture, medicinal gardens and renewable energy. This year the theme of water efficiency and water care is added.
