Interdisciplinary research meeting on arts and cultural practices for social transformation

The “Interdisciplinary research meeting on arts and cultural practices for social transformation” is an initiative of the GAM Studies area, which seeks to promote reflective and critical dialogue, and exchange between various spaces of knowledge production, such as academia, territories and cultural spaces. It also seeks to be a milestone of connection and associativity between researchers from various disciplines and professional trajectories who work from applied research with innovative methodologies and interdisciplinary views.

The meeting

The event will include various activities, starting with an opening talk “Emergencies and horizons in the field of research into artistic and cultural practices” that will offer a reflection on the context and conditions of production of the research, the emerging themes of recent years and interdisciplinary approaches, exploring the challenges of the Chilean and Latin American political and social context.

The Meeting will also feature the presentation of the book "Decentred culture. Studies on cultural democracy in Chile and Latin America" by Carla Pinochet.

Furthermore, within the framework of the first day, a mediated heritage visit with a sociological approach will be carried out.

During both days, panels will be held where researchers will present their work in the following thematic lines:

Panel 2: Cultural participation: methodologies and processes

Panel 3: Music and corporalities: performativity in urban space

Panel 4: Interculturality: valuing diversity through artistic practices
