On Saturday, July 5, “Live Lastarria in the Four Seasons” was held, a renewed cultural and urban proposal that will fill Santiago Centro with family activities, live music, gastronomy and entertainment to enjoy this winter.
The event, organized by the Business Association of the Lastarria Neighborhood (AGEBLA), GAM, Metropolitan Regional Government and Municipality of Santiago, sought to celebrate the spirit of the neighborhood in each season of the year, through thematic festivals that integrate culture, art, gastronomy, music, local commerce and urban experiences designed for all audiences.
The governor of Santiago, Claudio Orrego; the mayor of the Municipality of Santiago, Mario Desbordes; and Alejandra Martí, executive director of the Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center, welcomed the event together with Alfonso Molina, Pdte. of the Lastarria AGEBLA Guild Association; the President of the Parque Forestal Neighborhood Council, Arturo Ortiz; the Grte. of the Regional Corporation of Santiago, Juan Pablo Casorzo, and entrepreneurs from the area.
The entire programming was deployed in a pedestrian circuit between Merced and Lastarria streets, with its central point at the GAM Esplanade under the Villavicencio Tower.
From 12 noon, the public enjoyed cooking shows with José Ramón Chopería and Sanguchería Patrimonial Chilena; in addition to live painting, areas with miniature theater, puppets and magic tricks. Throughout the day, there was a guitar exhibition by Virginia Cordero and stands of crafts, design, gastronomy, local products and background music. From 3 p.m., the dance came by the swing group Crazy Legs, moments of Ecosilence (to dance with headphones in silence), the music of DJ Paula Achurra, a bolero show and a great finale with the group SAIKO in acoustic format.
Conceived as a recreational, cultural and family gathering, this event—free and open to the entire community—became an ideal opportunity to say goodbye to the holidays with an unforgettable activity for adults and children, in a unique heritage environment.
This edition will be set to highlight the best of winter and spaces designed for the enjoyment of the whole family. “Vive Lastarria” will return with spring, summer and fall editions.
