This project, financed by the Fund for the Promotion of National Music in its 2024 call, stands as a unique space for reflection, sound experimentation and the discovery of the rhythms that today mark the pulse and the Chilean musical ideology.
The screens and radio of the University of Chile have established themselves as a refuge for the most innovative musical projects, both for established voices and for emerging artists, who wish to share their artistic vision with the world. In this way, Repertorio CL has the objective and unrestricted intention of giving visibility to new proposals.
Under the direction of Cristián Pino and hosted by journalist Francisco Vergara, the program premieres this Thursday, January 9, at 11 p.m., on the open signal of UchileTV and also through its YouTube channel, bringing a little of each local artist to every corner of our country.
In this new season, the first four episodes will feature the presence of prominent figures such as Mariana Montenegro, Angelo Pierattini, Gianluca and Luciana Campos, who will share with the public their personal vision of music through sessions recorded in the sound studio of the Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center (GAM). These artists will not only offer their songs, but will also open their hearts in exclusive dialogues, breaking down how their sound proposals have catapulted them to notoriety and how they have managed to forge their own musical identity.
Mariana Montenegro spoke, among different topics, about the scene and the development of her solo project "in truth there are multiple areas of a musical project, and one has to learn to do everything in the production, sometimes it is tiring, although I know that I am going to do it better every time. Regarding the scene, I feel that every day she organizes herself more, makes projects, and carries them forward."
CL Repertory also delves into various facets of the musical world; In their foray into the spectrum of video clips from emerging bands, we will be able to meet new sounds such as Metalengua, Chicarica, Super especial, among many others, who give life to the independent scene with fresh and risky proposals.
It is worth mentioning that from a perspective path, a nostalgic look at the past is offered, with a deep reflection on the recent history of Chilean music, as is the case of the iconic project unplugged La Vitrola, directed by Patricio Alfaro, and the mark left by Rodrigo Osorio “Don Rorro”, vocalist of the legendary band Sinergia and current director of the Copyright Society (SCD).
In the first episodes, viewers will be taken to the Master Room of the University of Chile, where they meet Dulce y Agraz, Lucybell and Gepe, who will share their experience in music from its beginnings to its most recent moments. In addition, a behind-the-scenes look will allow us to learn the secrets of the rehearsals of Quilapayún, one of the most emblematic bands in the musical history of Chile, and in an intimate talk with Javiera Mena about their new album Entropía, a work that promises to shake up today's music scene.
With its inclusive outlook and its desire to highlight diversity, the program opens a window to all genres, styles and voices of Chilean popular music. As Francisco Vergara, host of the program, states: "Repertorio CL is a space that has grown in its production. Not only do we have live sessions recorded with the quality of the GAM studio, but also our conversations address the music that defines our collective identity, that music that passes through us both individually and socially. From neo perreo to the new Chilean song of the 70s, Repertorio CL is a reflection of Chile's vast and diverse music scene."
In this season, which consists of ten episodes, space will be given to iconic and emerging names in Chilean music. Artists such as Chini.png, Spiral Vortex, Mal Corazón, PAU, Bronko Yotte, Lizz, Mon Laferte, Galería CIMA, Delisse, Camilo Asperger from Fiesta Dame, Jorge Leiva from musicapopular.cl, Mauricio Redoles, Lego Moustache, Sergio González (GAM sound engineer), Cecilia Huerta from Altafonte Chile and Que Dios te Salve, among others, join this new installment.
