GAM and CityLab join forces for the first time to present “If the walls could talk: urban art cycle and humanized cities”, a space for thought, reflection and dialogue on the contribution of this artistic expression to the development of more livable cities. Through two conversations, artists, architects and urban planners will address the temporal intersections of muralism in Santiago, and the impact of urban art and its different disciplines on the regeneration of cities.

A convening house that brings together talents from different sectors, both in spectacle and performance, as well as in the field of thought and reflection on the future. In the case of this cycle we are interested in contributing to the reflection on the regeneration of cities as humanizing scenarios for the public," explained Alejandra Martí Olbrich, executive director of the cultural center.
In this way, on Wednesday, June 18, the dialogue “Mural Chronicles: temporal crossroads of muralism in Santiago” will open, a meeting that will be moderated by Pablo Brugnoli and will have as panelists Alejandro “Mono” González, Cristian Inostroza, Fab Ciraolo, Pium, and Jeannette Plaut.
On Wednesday, June 25, meanwhile, the discussion will be held “Urban art and the city: reflections on muralism in the regeneration of cities”. Caiozzama, Luna Lee, Yaikel, Rodrigo Vera, Stfi and the architect Cristian Fernández Modera: Javier Vergara will meet there.
This cycle was born as a complementary activity to the recent mural on the façade of GAM, “Oyéndote el corazón”, made by the visual artist Fab Ciraolo in tribute to the 80th anniversary of Gabriela Mistral's Nobel Prize. In this sense, Andrea Barrientos, director of Citylab, expresses that “we should not observe artistic expressions in the city as isolated events, unrelated to the urban phenomenon, but rather we should understand and value them as an expression of our culture, which converses with its urban and social context.”
Two mediated visits will be added to the conversations: one guided by the artist Fab Ciraolo himself to learn details of the inaugurated work and its creative process; and the second – aimed at childhood – to learn about the urban art present in the cultural center building.
