In addition, the GAM Building will remain closed, as will BiblioGAM, plazas and shops.

There are around twenty shows canceled and ticket refunds will be made through info@gam.cl.

In GAM the works Xuárez, Happy End, Ursaris, Melodías en el aire, VaLlena52, Pundonor, Tragicomedia del Ande, En fuga no hay goodbye are suspended. The “GAM 10 Years Cycle” in other theaters were also suspended, such as El Diccionario, Radiotanda, Proyecto Aguirre, Excesos and Mistral Gabriela.

As a preventive measure, the international programming for the first semester was also canceled, which included a cycle of three works by the Uruguayan playwright Sergio Blanco. On the other hand, the circulation tour of the GAM production La pérgola de las Flores that traveled to Arica, Temuco and Concepción was suspended.

"It is a shame to have to suspend the scheduled works and a significant economic loss for the artists and for the cultural center," comments the executive director of GAM, Felipe Mella, and adds, "there are many workers involved in a theater or dance production and we are naturally worried about their subsistence. On the other hand, it is a loss for the mandatory income that GAM has to generate to finance itself, which is at least 30%."

However, the pandemic situation urges cultural centers to take more drastic measures: "We must be sensible and responsible at this time. GAM receives more than 100 thousand visits per month and the health of our public is essential. We hope to resume programming in April to continue delivering culture to the entire population. We will try to reschedule the suspended works, but to the extent that there are spaces that do not affect the companies already scheduled for the rest of the year," concludes Mella.
