As a cultural center we believe in the integrity of art in all its forms of manifestation and we condemn this fact.
The external walls of GAM have been the subject of study by the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Chile (Archaeology specialty of the Anthropology department), considering that its contents reveal the historical changes that we are experiencing. On the other hand, many of the murals painted on our façade, some anonymous and others by well-known artists, are part of the Museum of Dignity.
We believe that Chile is in a historical moment that is revealed in its walls. Our façade is rewritten daily, manifesting the history of the social movement. Although we think that our buildings should be cared for and not scratched, today is not the time to repaint them.
Even so, today there were some murals that we will try to rescue for their meaning for the collective imagination.
