The birth of Gabriela Mistral will have a special meaning this year, since in January the Chamber of Deputies unanimously approved the motion to decree National Nobel Prize Day for every April 7. In this way, GAM will celebrate this weekend with free activities that remember the poet's legacy.

Gabriela Mistral from the GAM perspective

“Since 2015, a giant image permanently positions the figure of Mistral and his thoughts on the façade of the building. Since then, it has been the backdrop for the marches that cross the Alameda and guardian of different actions that take place inside the GAM in its memory and legacy. We have always looked for a way to rescue different facets of the poet and emphasize the validity of her thought. Our cultural center is honored to celebrate for the first time the installation of its birth as a commemorative day on the national calendar and celebrates the great initiative of the Chamber of Deputies”

— Felipe Mella, GAM executive director.
