Of the urban and the Latin
The dance this year will move with the urban rhythm together with Claudio Puebla and the MAE company, which revives the first experimental hip hop work that was made in Chile 12 years ago, “Gasper Crew”, where it tells the story of two brothers separated by an accident. In addition, Nicolás Cancino directs “HERES”, with eight freestyle hip hop dancers on stage who challenge virtuosity and address social trauma as an impulse for movement.

Among the novelties, Ricardo Curaqueo premieres “Wuñelfe: Lucero del dawn”, a work of contemporary dance and Mapuche orality that embodies the ancestral story of the guiding star Wuñelfe through rituals, bodies, memories and materialities.
On the other hand, for the first time GAM will host Teatro del Lago's historic You Can Dance program with “Entramado”, a creation by Vivian Romo performed by nearly one hundred girls, boys and young people.
Great successes of contemporary dance from 2025 return to the stage: “Majamama” directed by Pepo Silva, which is inspired by the classic postcard of the Latin imagination to reveal the exoticization and exploitation marked by the historical wound of the invasion; and “Brasas”, a choreography by the French Leïla Ka for the Chilean National Ballet that explores the tension between hopelessness and vital resistance in a disembodied party full of collective emotion.
The outstanding director and choreographer Paulina Mellado, President of the Republic National Performing Arts Award 2022, will present two of her memorable works in an unprecedented format. “Little Man” uses poetic body and visual language to stress the categories of power, masculinity and control. While “Febrile Bodies” explores an intense bond between two performers who inhabit a landscape created with 49 wooden planks.
