Workshop Great divas in cinema

At a time when women lead the discussion and changes in today's world, cinema becomes a time machine to discover how four divas who shone in the era of greatest splendor in Hollywood, also broke down borders at the time.

Marilyn Monroe, for example, managed to escape from the roles of erotic decoration and pin up to transform into an exceptional comedian under the direction of the best filmmakers in the world. Similarly, it happens with Elizabeth Taylor, another totemic figure in the sexual imagination, who beyond bombastic films like Cleopatra, manages to express all her talent in films like A Venus in Mink, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? or The Sandpiper.

If Taylor and Monroe took risks in their careers, Jane Fonda is synonymous with absolute rebellion and comes from one of the most prestigious families in entertainment. Added to his political activism and influence on fashion are unforgettable feature films such as Barefoot in the Park, The Human Pack and he adds commitments with European filmmakers of the stature of Jean-Luc Godard and René Clement.  With an amazing past, she is the only one of the stars that we will analyze in the workshop, who is still alive and in full force.

To end the workshop, we will review the brief but inescapable filmography of Natalie Wood, a tragic icon – she died drowned in mysterious circumstances – par excellence in golden Hollywood. To his beginnings with John Ford in the masterful More heart than hate, he adds works of generational influence to this day such as Rebel without a cause, West Side Story, Splendor in the grass. A world figure who appears fragile, but with an acting power that he admires to this day.

The workshop will be held in two one-hour sessions, through Platform Meet, led by the film critic, Leopoldo Muñoz.
