BiblioGAM invites boys and girls to celebrate the centenary of the Chilean artist Violeta Parra at the Santiago International Book Fair (FILSA) by appreciating her textile art and creating burlap with wool, fabrics and a lot of imagination.
The activity is focused on the textile art created by Violeta Parra and is presented with different tools that help to understand her artistic work in a comprehensive way. It is complemented by the reading of stories (“The Running Tortilla”, “The Night They Gave Us Fire”) that are thematically linked to songs by Violeta (“The Day of Your Birthday”, “Arauco Has a Penalty”), giving space for conversation about the artist's legacy and her textile work. The activity culminates with the creation of a free-themed burlap by the children with the materials provided.
Objectives:
- Learn about the textile work of Violeta Parra.
- Relate the textile work of Violeta Parra to her musical and artistic legacy.
- Embroider with a free theme and technique on burlap taking Violeta Parra's textile work as inspiration.
Aimed at students from 3rd to 5th grade.
