The art of ink

Hayashi uses ink to invite us to learn about the great tradition of the East in the use of this materiality, which was originally propagated by Zen monks, precursors of the sumi-e technique.

On the other hand, ink is approached in a unique way by Hayashi as a gestural resource. Every bodily movement or emotional gesture is evident on the paper or canvas without hesitation, since one of its peculiarities is that it leaves no room for regret.

Everything arises from a deep meditative and introspective state to later intuitively let movements “flow” that reveal forms and counter-forms alluding to the concept of “Emptiness and fullness”.

“Flow” is precisely what Roberto Hayashi manifests in his work. What flows is the vital energy, the consecration of the moment that becomes infinite since each perceiver reproduces in their memory the bodily act that caused that imprint.  Temporality also flows, since his works are always contemporary to the extent that they are not a literal but a poetic account of nature that is articulated in each person according to their relationship with the environment. In this way it is a reality that transforms with each moment of facing a new observer.
