Only 4 years ago the first female mathematician was incorporated into the Chilean Academy of Sciences. It is Carmen Cortázar and her face and story are part of this exhibition that highlights 19 mathematicians from Europe and Latin America. Organized by PAR Explora of CONICYT RM Norte and the Collective of Mathematics Women of Chile.
The activity also seeks to show the general public the work of mathematics, through testimonies from those who cultivate it, helping to present models and facets of this science, which are often unknown to a broad public.
There will be 21 plates with profiles of female mathematicians who have done important work in research areas such as Algebraic Homology, Partial Derivative Equations, Algebraic Geometry, Probability and Statistics, Analysis in varieties, Number Theory.
Some of the outstanding professionals who will be able to meet are Amalia Pizarro, Yboon García, Carolina Araujo, María Ronco, Carmen Cortázar, Monica Musso, Alicia Dickenstein, Soledad Torres, Lorna Figueroa, Salomé Martínez and Carolina Neira.
