The presentation of the book Passion to teach, by Gabriela Mistral (Editorial UV), will be led by Cristián Warnken, who will talk with collaborators of the book, and the actress María Izquierdo, who will be the voice of Mistral in a reading of fragments of the work.
Intimate writings, speeches, letters, interpellations, reveal the thinker with global reach, the one ahead of her time, but also the one who returns to the roots and great sources. Gabriela Mistral always spoke of education as her “side job,” but in reality it was a central passion in her life. For her, educating is a sacred task, and the teacher is not a mere official but a priest.
The book, illustrated by Roser Bru, and published by the Universidad de Valparaíso Publishing House, recollects the pedagogical thinking of the Nobel Prize winner and her vision of education.
The research and compilation of Mistral's texts was carried out by the director of the National Library, Pedro Pablo Zegers, and also includes testimonies from Rosabetty Muñoz, Patricio Felmer, Ana María Maza, Angélica Edwards and the poet Floridor Pérez.
