Kütral ñi tukulpan: memories of the stove

An exhibition that attempts to replicate the oral stories of Carmen Caripan Catricura, a Mapuche woman who went from cooking her recipes on the stove of her ruka in Traitraico to a city stove in Santiago. His stories emerge around the kütral (stove) while he cooks and in the exhibition they are presented on canvases written with charcoal.

Mapuche cuisine is a creation process intimately connected with memory and with a community past prior to migration from the countryside to the city. The exhibition aims to bring viewers closer to that past on a culinary, even dreamlike, journey through sound and audiovisual capsules that house gastronomic landscapes housed in the memory of Carmen and in the memory of the Mapuche people.
