Apablaza's widow

The Widow of Apablaza is an emblematic work of Chilean dramaturgy. The story of incestuous love between a widow and her “almost son” is complemented by the signs of the history and culture of Chile in the 1920s. A tragedy that transcends eras and appears as a living and profound material that enriches current theater.

Under the direction of Rodrigo Pérez, Germán Luco Cruchaga's text arrives without variations: In 1925, in the interior of Temuco, a widow manages with an iron fist the farm she inherited from her husband. He exercises power masculinely, but in his weakness lies the woman who represses. She loves Ñico, her husband's illegitimate son, as much as the son she never had, as the husband she no longer has. The fragility of this precarious balance allows passions to erupt in its fractures.

Previous seasons

Apablaza's Widow premiered on GAM on August 11, 2016 and ran until October 1. In January 2017, a performance was held at the Quilicura Teatro Festival and it had another season at GAM from April 20 to May 6.  In the GAM circulation plan, the work was presented at the Municipal Theater of Temuco. 

In 2018, it had a season from January 9 to 11 and in 2020 it had performances from March 5 for the "GAM 10 Years Cycle"
