instead of nothing

Valdivia is the rainiest city in Chile, also located between the waters of the Calle-Calle, Cruces and Valdivia rivers. From there comes to GAM a contemporary dance creation that explores the emotional imagery of water, its relationship with the city, the people and the performers of the work.

Instead of nothing was created by choreographer Joel Inzunza in a residency with the Valdivia Municipal Chamber Ballet, co-produced with the Valdivia Performing Experimentation Center. In four months of work they investigated the history and community around this geography marked by water.  And in water as a force of nature, as renewal, wisdom and narrative of the place.

The work premiered in 2015 and is performed by Valentina Kappes, Rodrigo Llancaleo, Poleth Espinoza, Francisco Sepúlveda, Flora Monsalves, Alluitz Riezu and Ignacio Díaz.
