Hanayagi - Traditional Japanese dance

Accompanied by three Japanese musicians, Mikifuu will perform a sample of Nihon Buyo (traditional Japanese dance), a technique she has practiced since she was 2 years old.

This type of dance has slow and deliberate movements and contains the beauty and history of the performing arts of Japan.  It has been in development for four centuries and is one of the most important cultural representations of that country.

The Nihon Buyo is a dance with an affinity towards the earth: the movements tend to be directed towards the ground, and the firm steps with the shoulders always aligned, give the sensation of a solid and compact body. The expression is given through stylized movements, while the face hides all emotion, using, like a mask, the classic white kakubi makeup.  The costumes are reduced to traditional Japanese kimonos.

Mikifuu, master and doctor in traditional Japanese music, visits our country to display all the beauty and mystery of Japanese dance.

The activity is part of the commemoration of 120 years of friendship between Japan and Chile.
