17th Santiago Media Arts Biennial
At the 17th Santiago Media Arts Biennial, electronic art is deployed from the everyday, expanding its reach from the home to the street. Machines, domestic robots and mechanized toys transcend their function to become works of simulation.
Immersive installations, performances and virtual realities converge in a space where artists and people who create through experimentation make their lives a work.

Between October 9 and 26, 2025, the 17 Santiago Media Arts Biennial – Hiperrealidades will be held in Santiago, Chile, under the curatorship of the transdisciplinary artist Nicolás Oyarce Carrión.
The Santiago Media Arts Biennial is a meeting of exploration, creation, exhibition and research dedicated to the intersection between arts, sciences, technologies and society, one of the main spaces for this topic in Latin America.
Organized by the Chilean Corporation of Video and Electronic Arts (CChV) since 1993, each biennial is positioned as a major cultural event around the media arts, bringing together the momentum of various cultural, social and artistic institutions. It was created by a group of artists under the direction of the artist, theorist and professor at the University of Chile, Néstor Olhagaray. Since then it has established itself as a reference for understanding the evolution of the media arts in Chile and the world, offering a space for reflection, meeting and exhibition for those practices that experiment with analog and digital media, languages and tools.
In 2025, the 17 Santiago Media Arts Biennial – Hiperrealidades is an initiative covered by the Cultural Donations Law and is possible thanks to financing from the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage, through the Support Program for Collaborating Cultural Organizations, and the Audiovisual Promotion Fund.
